Distributed Kitchen: It’s a Thing

This all started when I read the latest edition of The Good Housekeeping Cookbook in two days and mentioned it on Facebook. I jokingly suggested that I should become a food blogger, and several of my friends asked if they could be guests on my blog and/or cooking show.

The more I thought about it, the more it sounded like a fun idea. Like most people who cook, I enjoy cooking for other people. Unfortunately, I don’t get a chance to do it all that much. I grew up in New Jersey, went to college in Cleveland, and now I live by myself in Texas. If I can’t cook for my friends (and vice-versa), then a collaborative food blog might be the next best thing.

So here’s the plan.  This blog is a place for us to share recipes, ideas, and hipster-ish pictures of food. I’m calling it Distributed Kitchen, because it sounds Web 2.0-y and we’re spread out across 4+ states. The blog is public, but it’s not a publication, so we don’t have to make our posts pretty or well-written (but pictures and stuff are nice). Feel free to share it with your friends or your family. Or don’t. I’m inviting the people who expressed interest in the original Facebook post, but that group can grow or shrink with people’s interest. I imagine one or two of us will end up dominating the blog, with posts here and there from the busier or less culinarily-inclined. That’s fine.

I have no idea how this is going to work out, and really, it doesn’t matter. It just seems like it a fun little experiment.
